The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officer involved in the fatal shooting of Valentina Orellana-Peralta in 2021 was questioned this Monday during the civil trial for the death of the Latina teenager.
The On December 23, 2021, Officer William Jones fired a rifle at a Burlington store in North Hollywood at an assault suspect who was in possession of a bicycle chain. However, one of the shots passed through a wall and struck 14-year-old Valentina Orellana-Peralta, who was trying to protect herself from the incident by hiding in a fitting room with her mother.
