BMW takes an unprecedented measure after the success of its new sedan
The German brand decided to open orders for its new electric vehicle ahead of time after receiving higher interest than expected.
Something unusual has just happened at BMW. The German brand was forced to modify its commercial roadmap after verifying that interest in its next electric sedan was growing much faster than expected.

The first presentations of the model generated such a positive reaction that the company decided to accelerate the opening of reservations. This is a rare measure for a vehicle that has not yet even begun series production.

The movement reflects the confidence that BMW has in this project, considered one of the pillars of its new generation of electric vehicles.
Reservations arrived earlier than expected
The original planning contemplated opening orders towards the end of 2026. However, the response obtained at international events such as the Munich and Beijing shows led those responsible for the brand to change strategy.
Since last June 18, customers can now register their orders through a special launch edition called 1st Edition. With this, BMW seeks to organize demand and ensure first deliveries in a more efficient way.
The striking thing is that production maintains the planned schedule and will start in August at the Munich plant. What changed was only the date to formalize reservations.
Sedans are gaining prominence again
While SUVs continue to dominate a good part of the world market, this new model shows that sedans still have a lot to say.
The arrival of electric platforms designed from scratch is helping to regain the attractiveness of this type of bodywork. Its better aerodynamics allow the energy stored in the batteries to be used more efficiently, something essential to increase autonomy.
BMW has worked precisely on that balance between classic design and modern technology. The result is a sedan with elegant proportions, more interior space and an architecture developed specifically for electric mobility.
Power and autonomy as a letter of introduction
The first known figures explain part of the expectation surrounding the model. Some versions with all-wheel drive promise performance close to 469 horsepower, a figure that brings them closer to proposals traditionally associated with the brand's sports variants.
However, the fact that draws the most attention is related to efficiency. BMW anticipates ranges that could approach 900 kilometers under certain homologation cycles, in addition to fast charging systems designed to considerably reduce waiting times.
A key model for the new stage of BMW
Beyond its features, this sedan represents a fundamental piece within BMW's electric strategy. The company seeks to demonstrate that zero-emission vehicles can maintain the dynamic character, comfort and premium image that have historically defined the brand.
The public response seems to confirm that there is a strong demand for this type of proposals. In both Europe and Asia, early indications show that many buyers continue to value the elegance and efficiency of a saloon, even in an era dominated by SUVs.
