Enoki mushrooms recalled after possible listeria contamination, according to FDA
The company HH Fresh Trading is among those affected by the recall of mushrooms sold in 150 gram bags
This week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced to U.S. consumers a recall of enoki mushrooms due to possible listeria contamination.
According to the health entity, the food recall affected two brands in the market that sold enoki mushrooms in 150-gram bags; Among them is the company HH Fresh Trading, which distributed the product in retail chains in Florida and Texas.
In this sense, the FDA detailed in a statement that the affected and recalled products are: IQ enoki mushrooms with the code “UI775” in a green label package, and HH Fresh Trading enoki mushrooms with the code “4711498860002”.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), listeria poisoning can be harmful to children, older adults, pregnant women, or people with weak immune systems.
Poisoning can occur through the consumption of food contaminated by the bacteria, and the symptoms in most cases include: fever, muscle pain, headache and abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, among others.
In this sense, the FDA recommends discarding the food or returning it to the store where you purchased it for a refund.
