Range Rover prepares its first GT with off-road DNA
Range Rover is preparing its first electric GT, a model that will combine luxury, technology and off-road capabilities in a single vehicle
The idea of a grand tourer is usually associated with low, sporty cars designed exclusively to devour kilometers on asphalt. Range Rover wants to demonstrate that this concept can also coexist with the versatility that has made the British brand a benchmark for luxury and off-road vehicles.

That is why it is working on the new Range Rover GT, a completely unprecedented model that will expand the company's range and that will mark an important change in its electrification strategy.

The firm hopes to launch it in 2027 with a proposal focused on those seeking comfort, a high level of technology and the possibility of leaving the pavement without worries.
A new member for the Range Rover family
With this project, the brand will add a fifth model to its catalog. The intention is not to compete directly with the traditional European grand tourers, but to create an alternative that combines refinement, interior spaciousness and the ability to face difficult terrain.
Martin Limpert, CEO of Range Rover, explained that the development took several years and assured that this will be the brand's "most car-like" model that they have built so far, although without losing the qualities that distinguish an authentic Range Rover.
The vehicle will initially arrive as a battery electric vehicle, while later a variant with a hybrid system will also be available. Both will share a completely new technical base.
The EMA platform will be the protagonist
One of the greatest advances of the project is the incorporation of the EMA architecture, a platform developed for the group's next generation of electrified vehicles.
This structure promises to improve efficiency, increase the rigidity of the assembly and facilitate the integration of new technologies. The Range Rover GT will be the first model built on this basis and will be manufactured at the Halewood plant in the United Kingdom.
The brand also confirmed that this architecture will allow different functions to be updated through software, in addition to preparing the vehicle for future electronic innovations.
A cleaner and more technological interior
The design will follow the minimalist language that characterizes the most recent Range Rover models, with clean surfaces and an elegant image.
However, the biggest change will be inside the cabin. The company designed a space where technology is discreetly integrated to reduce the number of visible elements and offer a more relaxing environment during trips.
The driver will have a digital interface that replaces the traditional instrument panel. There will also be hidden air vents, a sound system integrated behind braided textile materials and greater acoustic insulation to reduce outside noise.
Prepared for road and off-road
Although official figures on autonomy, power or charging times are not yet known, Range Rover assures that the new electrical system will offer immediate acceleration and especially quiet operation.
The difference compared to other GT models will be in its ability to leave the road when necessary. The brand promises that this vehicle will retain superior off-road performance than any conventional grand tourer, allowing it to tackle dirt roads, mountainous areas and other scenarios where most sports cars could not handle easily.
The commercial premiere is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. While final tests continue, everything indicates that the new Range Rover GT will become one of the brand's most striking launches in the coming years. Although its price remains a mystery, it is expected to exceed $100,000.
