The electric car market has been marked in recent years by a constant question: How far can a vehicle go without stopping to recharge?

While some models stand out for their power and others for their design, the truth is that real autonomy has always been the great measure of success. In this context, the Polestar 3 has just demonstrated that an electric SUV can go beyond what many considered possible.

The Swedish model, in its Long Range version with a single engine and a 111 kWh battery, officially entered the Guinness Book of Records by achieving the longest distance traveled by a vehicle of its type on the road on a single charge.

The scene of the feat was the United Kingdom, where a team of three drivers pushed this SUV to the limit, reaching a figure that surprised even the brand's engineers.

935 kilometers on a single charge

The record achieved was 935 kilometers, which is equivalent to driving from London to the outskirts of Munich without stopping to plug in the vehicle. The test took place in changing weather conditions, with intermittent rain, wind, and different types of terrain, which makes the result even more impressive.

The team in charge consisted of Sam Clarke, Kevin Booker, and Richard Parker, three electric mobility specialists who worked in shifts to maintain a steady pace. In total, the journey took 22 hours and 57 minutes, with an average speed of approximately 40 km/h.

Most striking is that, according to the recorded data, the official range of the Polestar 3 Long Range is estimated at 706 kilometers under the WLTP cycle.

However, at the time of reaching the record, there was still 20% of the battery available. Even when the marker reached 0%, the vehicle managed to travel an additional 13 kilometers before coming to a complete stop.

Standard technology, no gimmicks

A key aspect of this achievement is that the vehicle used was a standard Polestar 3, with no special modifications or technical adaptations that could improve fuel consumption.

It was fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 EV tires measuring 255/50 R20 at the front and 285/45 R20 at the rear, tyres designed for balanced performance and not specifically for low rolling resistance tests.

This means that any Polestar 3 buyer could, under similar conditions, come close to the figures achieved in this challenge. The key was efficient driving and making the most of the benefits of its new-generation electric powertrain.

The vehicle combines an intelligent energy management system, direct battery cooling and software that constantly optimizes performance. These factors, combined with the drivers' discipline, made possible a record that has already gone down in the history of electromobility.

A compelling test from Polestar

Michael Lohscheller, the company's CEO, enthusiastically celebrated the achievement: "We are proud to announce that we have a world record in the Polestar family. This official Guinness World Record for range is further proof that the Polestar 3 is setting new standards. We will continue to push the boundaries of electric technology and performance."

These words reflect the brand's ambition, which has worked in recent years to establish itself as one of the most innovative manufacturers in the field of sustainable mobility. Its goal is not only to sell cars, but also to demonstrate that electrification can compete head-to-head with any combustion alternative in terms of reliability and performance.

Beyond the Guinness recognition, this record has a symbolic value for the entire sector. One of the main barriers facing electric cars is so-called "range anxiety," i.e., users' fear of running out of battery before finding a charging point. With achievements like the Polestar 3, this perception is beginning to change.

An electric SUV that exceeds 900 kilometers on a single charge sends a clear message: the technology is no longer limited to short urban trips, but is also ready for long road trips. Furthermore, the fact that this result was achieved in real-world conditions and not in a laboratory increases the credibility of the brand and the segment in general.
