Police find Republican Oklahoma Senate candidate dead
Police investigate the death of Barry Christian, candidate for senator for Oklahoma's 38th District, whose body was found inside his pickup truck
After being reported missing for 48 hours, Barry Christian, a conservative candidate for District 38 in western Oklahoma, was found dead inside a pickup truck that had been abandoned in a rural area.
In a statement, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation revealed that the dark gray 2024 Ram pickup truck he usually drove The state senatorial candidate was found near Highway 30, south of Erick.
The vehicle was located by a patrol car next to a ravine near the Sandy Sanders Wildlife Management Area.
Upon approaching to inspect the vehicle, a police officer noticed a body inside, later identified as Barry Christian.
The authorities' report stated that a large campaign sign promoting the Republican for Senate was found lying in a meadow several yards away, as if someone had intentionally thrown it down before leaving the area.
It should be noted that Christian had been reported missing since Tuesday afternoon after failing to appear at a scheduled meeting or answer calls to his cell phone.
The Harmon County Sheriff's Office indicated that the Republican was last seen driving his pickup truck.
