An 18-year-old man was arrested in West Virginia after being accused of killing his mother and injuring his father during a shooting at their family residence in Pennsylvania, authorities said.
The suspect, identified as Jarrod Noll, faces charges of homicide and attempted homicide. The attack occurred Friday at a home on Garrison Ridge Road in Freeport Township, Greene County, an area near the West Virginia border. Pennsylvania State Police received the alert shortly before 2:00 pm Upon arriving at the scene, officers found both parents with gunshot wounds and immediately transported them to a medical facility. The mother died and the father survived. The young man's mother was admitted in critical condition and later died at the hospital, while the father, who was also wounded, was released after receiving medical attention and is in stable condition, according to authorities. After the attack, Noll fled the home on foot, prompting a large-scale manhunt. Police considered him armed and dangerous as ground and air resources were deployed to locate him.
Search and Capture in West Virginia
“We used tracking dogs, helicopters, and officers on foot in difficult terrain,” explained Pennsylvania State Police Sergeant Richard Sizer, quoted by local media. “When someone is wanted for homicide and is presumed to be armed, it represents a serious risk to the community,” he added.
The young man was located and arrested without incident on Saturday by the West Virginia State Police. He remains in custody awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania to face the charges against him.
Minors Present During the Incident
According to preliminary reports, the suspect's younger siblings were in the house at the time of the shooting, although it was indicated that the shots were fired outside the house. The children were placed in the care of a relative. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crime, while legal proceedings against the accused young man are underway.
