A 19-year-old hitman linked to 9 armed attacks and at least 7 crimes is captured in Cancun
The authorities reported that the detainee's weapon was used in several attacks that left multiple fatalities and injured people.
Quintana Roo authorities arrested José Enrique “N”, alias “Kike”, a 19-year-old young man from San Luis Potosí, who investigations link to at least nine violent events that occurred in Cancún and Puerto Morelos, including homicides, armed attacks and attempted executions.
The capture took place in Cancún, where agents seized a 9-millimeter caliber pistol and various doses of alleged drugs.
According to the State Attorney General's Office, ballistic analyzes carried out through the IBIS system allowed the seized weapon to be linked to several criminal events recorded in recent months in the northern area of Quintana Roo.
The authorities reported that the weapon would have been used in at least nine attacks that left multiple fatalities and injured people.
Among the cases investigated are homicides that occurred in Cancún, as well as attacks recorded in different parts of Puerto Morelos.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, investigations indicate that several of these events would be related to disputes between groups dedicated to drug dealing.
Likewise, the detainee's participation in other violent acts is not ruled out, so the investigations remain open.
The state authority highlighted that the capture represents progress in the investigations of a series of armed attacks that have impacted Cancún and Puerto Morelos in recent months.
