CBP agents seize a million-dollar shipment of methamphetamine at the Texas border point
The drugs seized at the Reynosa-Pharr International Bridge have an estimated value of 14 million dollars
Agents from the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seized approximately 745 kilograms of methamphetamine that were being transported concealed in a trailer loaded with lettuce that was trying to cross the Reynosa-Pharr International Bridge into United States territory.
According to border authorities, the illicit shipment was detected during an inspection carried out on a unit from Reynosa.
After identifying irregularities through non-intrusive inspection systems, the officers sent the vehicle for a second inspection, where they located 307 packages of drugs hidden among the boxes of agricultural products.
The director of the port of entry of Pharr, Texas, Carlos Rodríguez, reported that the seized drugs have an estimated value of 14 million dollars. After the discovery, the authorities seized the tractor-trailer, the methamphetamine and detained the driver to continue the corresponding investigations.
The investigation was carried out by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents, who sought to determine the origin and destination of the shipment, as well as identify those responsible for the drug trafficking operation.
This operation adds to a series of seizures recorded during 2026 at the same border crossing. These include the seizure of 900 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden among blackberries in March, 135 kilograms hidden among carrots in April and another 412 kilograms located in a shipment of tiles the same month.
US authorities warned that criminal organizations continue to use commercial merchandise and perishable products to try to introduce narcotics into the United States, taking advantage of the intense flow of cargo that crosses the border between Tamaulipas and Texas daily.
