They search for a woman accused of murder in Florida after the discovery of a man buried in a shallow grave
Florida authorities are searching for Isabelle Johnson, 38, accused of the murder of Jason Christopher Coulthart, whose body was found in Freeport
Florida authorities continue the search for Isabelle Johnson, 38, who faces a murder charge for the death of Jason Christopher Coulthart, 43, whose remains were found buried on a property in Freeport, in the northwest of the state.
The Walton County Sheriff's Office reported that the woman is “actively evading authorities” and warned that she may have changed her appearance while she remains on the run.
Coulthart had last been seen on May 24, when he left the College Condominiums complex. After her disappearance was reported, investigators obtained information that led them to a property in Freeport, where on June 25 they located her remains.
The suspect could use several names
Authorities issued an arrest warrant for Johnson, whom they believe was involved in the homicide.
According to investigators, the woman could be using different aliases to hide her identity, including Harley, Jessica Elaine Bowman, Jessica Elaine Thrush and Jessica Dowdy, as well as other names.
So far, authorities have not revealed the relationship between Johnson and the victim.
The Sheriff's Office also released surveillance video of the suspect inside a business establishment, recorded a few days after Coulthart's remains were found.
Investigators warned that Johnson may have changed his appearance since then.
Three people were arrested for allegedly helping the suspect
As part of the investigation, authorities arrested Michael Ray White, 74, and Kathleen Morris, 59, both residents of Santa Rosa Beach.
The two face charges of being an accessory after the fact to a capital felony and obstruction.
Investigators maintain that White deliberately helped Johnson evade authorities between June 25 and 30.
For his part, Morris admitted to providing transportation and supplies to the suspect, in addition to misleading investigators about Johnson's presence in her home, as reported by Fox 10 News.
Authorities warn of consequences for those who help the fugitive
Walton County Sheriff Michael Adkinson issued a warning to anyone who collaborates with the suspect.
"Anyone who helped or continues to help Isabelle Johnson avoid arrest will be charged accordingly. If you give her a place to stay, help her hide, or lie for her, you will face the consequences," he said.
Authorities continue the search for Johnson and asked for the public's help in locating her as the investigation into Coulthart's homicide continues.
