Drug trafficker arrested in Sinaloa who was accused in the US of narcoterrorism

Federal authorities arrested Pedro Inzunza Noriega, alias “El Sagitario” or “El Senor de la Silla”, second in command of the group headed by Fausto Isidro Meza Flores, alias “El Chapo Isidro” ...”, in a house in Culiacan, Sinaloa Fausto Isidro Meza Flores, alias “El Chapo Isidro,” assumed control of the “Los Beltran Leyva” criminal organization, dedicated to the production and trafficking of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin.
Inzunza Noriega, 62, was indicted last May by U.S. prosecutors on charges of narcoterrorism, the first such charge brought under the Trump administration, making him one of the most sensitive priority targets in the bilateral relationship between Mexico and the United States.
In addition, “El Sagitario” is the father of Pedro Insunza Coronel, alias “El Pichon,” who was killed on November 30, 2025, in Sinaloa and was also wanted by the United States, as he served as the right-hand man of “El Chapo Isidro”'s faction.
The U.S. Department of Justice accused father and son of running a production and trafficking network of drugs, primarily fentanyl, with a direct impact on the U.S. market.
Local media indicated that the arrest was made after a search and that, along with Inzunza Noriega, three other people were arrested in the same operation coordinated between military and federal agencies.
Inzunza Noriega's arrest comes amid growing binational pressure on synthetic drug production and trafficking networks, while images on social media illustrate the scale of the operation mounted by authorities on land and in the air.
