Gervonta Davis in new trouble with justice: She violated conditions of her parole
Gervonta Davis' situation is aggravated by other judicial proceedings opened in Florida
The career of boxer Gervonta Davis is once again facing an interruption due to factors outside the sporting field.
The judicial authorities of the state of Maryland have issued a new arrest warrant against the boxer, pointing out the failure to comply with the terms established in his probation after a previous case registered in 2020.

This legal requirement, formalized on April 24 by Judge Althea M. Handy of the Baltimore Circuit, responds to a report about an altercation that occurred at a Miami night establishment last year.
Although Gervonta Davis's defense managed to have a similar order withdrawn in February after promising full cooperation with the judicial system, the current situation has escalated when new appeals presented by her lawyers were denied.
Obligations before the World Boxing Association
Despite the complex legal scenario, the governing body of boxing has set a clear administrative guideline for the athlete's sporting future.
The World Boxing Association (WBA) has ratified that any return to the ring must be under the mandatory defense modality. The entity made its position official on May 23 through a statement addressed to interested parties.
"The WBA Championships Committee ordered the mandatory fight between the lightweight champion, Gervonta Davis, and the number 1 challenger in the ranking, Floyd Schofield. The pioneering body sent the communication to both parties this Saturday, May 23, in which it granted a period of 30 days to carry out the negotiations, which will end on June 22," the WBA statement maintains.
History of litigation and counterclaims
Gervonta Davis' situation is aggravated by other judicial proceedings opened in Florida. In January 2026, the boxer was arrested by officers from the Miami Gardens Police Department and the U.S. Fugitive Task Force. Marshals, under charges of assault and illegal deprivation of liberty, following a complaint filed by his ex-partner, Courtney Rossel, for an incident that occurred in October 2025.
In response to these allegations, Gervonta Davis filed a countersuit on March 23 in Miami-Dade County Circuit Court against Rossel herself.
In this document, the boxer maintains that his ex-partner orchestrated an extortion scheme that resulted in the cancellation of a multimillion-dollar fight against Jake Paul, and is currently seeking compensation in excess of $20 million for the damage caused to his career.
The future in the ring
The outlook for Gervonta Davis remains uncertain due to the double pressure exerted by both the authorities of the state of Maryland and the commitments made with the WBA.
While justice evaluates compliance with the conditions imposed by the previous sentence, the boxer's team has until June 22 to decide whether the confrontation against Floyd Schofield will take place, or if the legal complications will force a new pause in his professional activity.
