Christian Nodal's father breaks the silence: will he return his stage name to the singer?
Jaime González broke the silence about the estrangement with his son and clarified details about the legal battle they face over the use of his name
Jaime González, father of Christian Nodal, has decided to put an end to speculation about his estrangement and legal battle with the singer for the rights to his stage name. For this reason, he gave an interview to several media outlets in which he hinted that this process would be about to come to an end.
According to a clip taken up by Despierta América, the former representative of Nodal is “calm” and away from the arguments, because “my lawyers are in charge of that.”
Faced with questions about an alleged financial dispute with his son, Jaime González clarified forcefully: "I have always paid since I made it from scratch, we don't have money issues. I have never kept anything that is not mine."
In addition to this statement, the artist's father explained that the “Botella after Botella” interpreter was always aware of the scope of his legal benefits: “I have always had the rights to the name because I am the investor and I am the creator of the career, and Christian has always known that,” he commented in front of the press.
One of the questions that could not be missed during the meeting was whether he is willing to return the rights to his name and image to Christian Nodal, to which he responded: “We are working on it, we are in talks.”
Finally, Jaime González denied that the legal process he is experiencing with his son has compromised their coexistence. According to their testimony, the reason behind their few sightings together is their work commitments.
"I spoke with him two days ago (...) What happens is that I have more projects and I'm no longer as close as we were at the beginning. He's more mature, he doesn't have to take care of him like when he was younger," he said.
In this sense, he regretted that both Christian Nodal and his wife Ángela Aguilar are the target of criticism for their relationship: "It's terrible, I don't like how all this negative stuff is being handled. They don't deserve it. Nobody, no person deserves it," he commented.
