They arrest 6 Tabasco police officers accused of kidnapping and extortion
This action is part of Operation Swarm, aimed at investigating and punishing possible acts of corruption and links to crime.
Six elements of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) of Tabasco were arrested for their alleged participation in the crimes of kidnapping and extortion, as part of the first Swarm Operation implemented in the entity.
The State Attorney General's Office (FGE) reported that the arrest warrants were executed in coordination with the Attorney General's Office (FGR) and the Olmeca Interinstitutional Tactical Reaction Force (FIRT), as a result of investigations focused on combating crimes allegedly committed by public servants.
The detained people served as state police officers. After their capture, they were placed at the disposal of a judge, who will determine their legal situation in accordance with due process.
According to the authorities, the operation is part of the national strategy called Operation Swarm, aimed at investigating and punishing possible acts of corruption and links between public servants and criminal activities. The FGE indicated that the actions were carried out in accordance with legality and respect for human rights.
National media indicated that the investigations also seek to clarify possible links between some of the detainees and organized crime structures; However, so far the authorities have not officially confirmed that relationship.
With these arrests, Operation Enjambre is applied for the first time in Tabasco, adding to the strategy that has already been deployed in other entities in the country to strengthen the fight against corruption within security corporations.
