Tropicoqueta: Karol G announced new album
The Colombian singer will return with new music: she will release Tropicoqueta, her fifth studio album. The release date is not yet known.
Karol G announced new album. This Monday, the Colombian singer surprised everyone by revealing that she will soon release Tropicoqueta, her fifth studio album.
Through her Instagram account, Karol G shared a video in which the rhythm of the timbales shares the news.
“Where are the people at this party? They came to dance and not for a nap. Let's see, those in this corner, I don't want anyone warming their chair,” sings Karol G before revealing the name of her new album: Tropicoqueta.
The singer indicated that she will soon reveal the release date of her new album, which promises to be a musical journey through the Caribbean.
“I'm finally letting you know this. My heart is bursting out. My new album Tropicoqueta,” wrote the singer alongside the announcement video.
Immediately, Karol G's post was filled with comments from her fans expressing their excitement for her new album.
“A single genre could never contain her. We love such a fearless, creative queen,” “The most anticipated thing of the year,” “I need something that hits me straight in the heart,” “Finally, we need to enjoy it this summer,” are some of the comments on Karol G’s post.
The Tropicoqueta announcement comes shortly after the release of “Latina Foreva,” her first single of the year and a preview of her new album.
“Latina Foreva” combines simple lyrics with some explicit sexual references and a catchy chorus, while the video shows images of women in swimsuits in the snow.
These elements earned the singer some criticism, as some believe that Karol G’s new song reinforces the stereotype of hypersexualizing Latinas.
“Latina Foreva” has accumulated more than 570,000 views on YouTube and over 28 million streams on Spotify since its release.
