HBO confirmed that Euphoria ends with its third season
The creator of the fiction, Sam Levinson, and the television network made it official that the acclaimed dramatic production will not have a fourth installment
The hit and controversial drama series “Euphoria” has officially come to an end. After the broadcast of the last episode of its third season, the HBO television network confirmed that production concludes definitively with this installment, ruling out the possibility of making a fourth season in the future.
The news was initially announced by the creator, director and screenwriter of the fiction, Sam Levinson, in an interview given to a podcast by The New York Times.
Subsequently, official HBO spokespersons confirmed the information to the specialized media Variety, sealing the fate of one of the most influential and talked-about youth dramas of the last decade.
The outcome of the project comes after overcoming significant delays in the general production of this latest installment, motivated in large part by the complex and increasingly busy schedules of its main stars.
Since its debut in 2019, the series has served as a direct springboard to global stardom for the likes of Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer and Jacob Elordi.
Loosely based on Levinson's personal experiences, “Euphoria” captivated audiences by closely following a group of high school students as they grappled with highly complex issues such as addiction, identity, sex, social media, trauma, and the dynamics of love and friendship.
With a unique visual aesthetic and a raw narrative, the series says goodbye to the small screen, consolidated as a cultural and iconographic phenomenon for contemporary television.
