Amanda Bynes denied one of the most serious rumors that have circulated about her life: the alleged relationship and pregnancy with Nickelodeon producer Dan Schneider when she was only 13 years old.
Through a statement In an interview with TMZ, the 39-year-old actress vehemently denied these accusations, stating that a viral video purporting to show her making such a confession had been “digitally altered.” Bynes dismissed the content as “clickbait lies,” created with the intention of generating clicks and unfounded speculation. The video in question, which was originally posted by a fan account and later deleted, showed Bynes sitting in a restaurant. At the end of the clip, text was superimposed that read: “The man I got pregnant by at 13! ?.” Immediately afterward, the video cut to a scene from "The Amanda Show" in which a teenage Bynes, wearing a bikini, appeared in a jacuzzi with Schneider, who was then 59 years old and fully clothed.
Dan Schneider at the center of the controversy
According to Bynes herself, as she explained to TMZ, she did post a video from the restaurant, but in its original version, the camera was turned toward her boyfriend and did not include the jacuzzi scene with Schneider at all. The actress claims that the version that went viral was maliciously edited.
Meanwhile, Dan Schneider has been at the center of controversy since the premiere of the documentary “Quiet on the Set” in 2023, where several former Nickelodeon stars accused him of fostering a toxic work environment and of abusive behavior toward the cast and crew.
Although Schneider denied the sexual abuse allegations, he publicly apologized for what he called his “shameful” past actions. Furthermore, in May 2024, the producer sued the documentary's creators, accusing them of making “false statements and implications” that suggested he had sexually abused child stars.
Schneider's separation from Nickelodeon was finalized in 2018.
Following an internal investigation into the treatment of young actors on set, the split was finalized with a $7 million settlement for the producer.
