As part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Pies Descalzos and the 20th of Fijacion Oral, Shakira re-recorded some of the most emblematic songs from these two albums, including “La Pared”.

Through her Instagram account, the Colombian singer shared the recording process of “La Pared,” for which she had musicians from the New York Philharmonic Orchestra.

“I came up with it on the plane, I landed in NY, my manager got me 14 incredible women from the Philharmonic Orchestra, I did the arrangement in an hour, we rehearsed all night and the rest you know,” the singer said in her post.

In the video, Shakira is seen talking with her team about how she imagined the new version of the song and with the members of the orchestra in the recording studio.

This new version is part of an exclusive EP released on Spotify to celebrate 30 years of Pies Descalzos and 20 years of Fijacion Oral, of which “La Pared” is a part.

This special project also includes collaborations with artists such as Ed Sheeran and Beele, who participate in the new version of Hips Don't Lie.

According to EFE, the two albums have surpassed 6.1 billion combined global streams and, globally, have resonated greatly in Mexico.

Through this release, Shakira seeks to pay tribute to her musical roots, putting a new shine on songs that marked her career and Latin music.
