US has returned nearly 8,000 immigrants to Venezuela in seven months
Flights full of Venezuelan immigrants from the United States continue to be received in Caracas
According to an investigation carried out by the television network CBS News consulting government officials under the condition of anonymity, in the last seven months, from different points in the United States, 40 deportation flights have been made directly to the Venezuelan capital, despite the diplomatic tension registered between both nations.
In this way, the United States has managed to have a repatriation agreement previously signed with Venezuela respected, through which the Bolivarian Republic receives flights full of immigrants arriving in Caracas.
Despite the protests of some immigrant advocacy organizations, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has made it clear that Its objective is to avoid the presence of immigrants with police records considered highly dangerous to the rest of the citizens.
Based on this position, this is how, since March, the deportations of nearly 8,000 Venezuelans have been carried out.
In fact, the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) announced that, on the last deportation flight to Caracas, which took place on October 15, 140 Venezuelans were handed over to the authorities of the South American country.
It should be noted that Jefferson Bracho Haddad was traveling in the group of immigrants, identified as an alleged member of the criminal organization called Tren de Aragua.
Through a statement, Tricia McLaughlin, Undersecretary of the DHS, reiterated that the US government will continue to deport more Venezuelans in the coming weeks.
“These individuals, including confirmed members of the Tren de Aragua gang, sexual predators, and violent criminals, should never have been in our country in the first place,” she said.
The official stressed that,Thanks to the efforts of various federal agencies, nearly two million immigrants have left the United States since January.
However, this number is projected to increase as more operations are carried out before the end of the year.
