Karol G reveals what she learned from her breakup with Feid
After three years of relationship, the Colombian artist reveals the lessons she learned from being single and the importance of prioritizing her self-love
After months of speculation about the breakup between Karol G and Feid, the “Provenza” singer decided to break the silence. In a recent interview with Elle magazine, the Colombian singer shared the emotional learnings that the end of her three-year relationship left her with.
Karol G described the last year as one of the most difficult of her life on an emotional level. To heal and find clarity, the artist took refuge in the tranquility of Hawaii, where she made the decision to cut her hair and rethink her personal path.
“Life threw me to the ground, kicked me, pushed me, stood over me and spun me around,” the singer confessed about the emotional crisis she went through before resurfacing.
It was in that necessary period of introspection where she understood that her true personal evolution would occur when she was alone with herself.
One of the most revealing points of his testimony directly addresses the weight of cultural expectations. Having grown up under the standards of a traditional environment, the Colombian admitted to having been conditioned to give herself unconditionally to her partners, often diluting her own identity in the process.
“As a Latina from a traditional family, they teach you to give yourself completely to relationships, to the point of losing yourself,” she reflected.
For her, the true emotional work not only lies in maintaining a relationship with dedication, but in learning to walk on your own when the bond stops working.
With maturity, the Grammy winner detailed the whirlwind of emotions she experienced when making the difficult decision to put an end to it. “At first I thought, ‘Wow, I’m here again!’ But then I looked at it like, ‘Wow, how beautiful that I had the courage to say I didn’t want to be there anymore!'”
Today, Karol G embraces her singleness and shows that knowing when to retire is an act of bravery as great as knowing how to love.
