The brand confirmed the arrival of the Model YL Launch Series 2026 to the US market, a variant that is committed to a larger cabin, three rows of seats and a higher level of comfort compared to the conventional Model Y.

The strategy also addresses one of the most frequent observations of Model Y owners. Although the vehicle became one of Tesla's biggest commercial successes, many users considered that the third row offered limited space. With this new version, the manufacturer seeks to solve that point and offer a more attractive option for families. More space for passengers and luggage
The main difference of the Model YL is in the increase in its wheelbase, a modification that allowed the cabin to be expanded and improve the space available for the occupants of the third row.
Tesla claims the SUV can comfortably carry up to six adults thanks to a fully functional three-row configuration. In addition, it has 89 cubic feet of cargo capacity, which represents an increase of 12 cubic feet compared to the traditional Model Y.
Another important change appears in the rear doors, which now offer a greater opening angle. This modification makes it easier to enter the last row, one of the aspects that received the most criticism in the conventional version.
A cabin with a higher level of comfort
The new Model YL also elevates the experience for those traveling in the rear seats. The second row incorporates individual seats with electric armrests, heating and ventilation functions, as well as electric folding with a single command.
The third row also receives improvements with electrically reclining backrests and an independent climate control system for rear passengers. Added to this are more refined finishing materials, new textile coverings and better acoustic insulation that significantly reduces noise coming from outside.
Technology and better features
In the technological section, Tesla maintains its commitment to a completely digital cockpit. The Model YL incorporates a 16-inch central screen, complemented by a second 8-inch screen for the occupants of the second row. It also adds additional microphones to facilitate voice control from the back of the vehicle.
The mechanics are made up of an 83 kWh battery and a dual-motor all-wheel drive system. According to Tesla, it reaches an approximate range of 325 miles with the 19-inch wheels. If you equip the 20-inch wheels, the range decreases by about five miles.
Despite its larger size, the manufacturer states that the aerodynamic work allowed it to maintain a high level of efficiency. The bodywork features a longer roofline and a redesigned rear spoiler that optimizes airflow. Thanks to this, the Model YL accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds and can tow up to 3,500 pounds.
Tesla confirmed that the Model YL Launch Series will begin to be sold in the United States during the fall of 2026. Its starting price will be $63,630, a figure with which it seeks to position itself between the conventional Model Y and the Model X, also becoming the SUV with the most space available within the brand's current range.
