The arrest schedule for Sean “Diddy” Combs underwent a new change. The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) updated the music mogul's official records, pushing back his estimated release date to February 20, 2028.
This adjustment occurs just a few days after its departure had been preliminarily brought forward to January 24 of the same year.
Although prison authorities do not usually publicly detail the specific reasons for individual modifications in sentence calculations, the measure coincides directly with a recent violent altercation inside the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution, a low-security prison located in New Jersey where the producer is serving his sentence.
According to preliminary reports confirmed by sources close to the institution, the dispute began when another inmate hurled insults at the founder of Bad Boy Records. The argument quickly escalated to pushing and hitting between both inmates until the prison guards intervened to stop the fight.
After the fight, officers moved Combs to the Special Housing Unit (SHU), commonly known as solitary confinement, where he remained under disciplinary investigation.
Federal prison system regulations stipulate that disciplinary infractions and physical assaults may result in the loss of “good behavior” credits. These credits — which allow up to 54 days per year to be subtracted from sentences longer than 12 months — are often the reason why release dates constantly fluctuate in federal records.
Combs was sentenced to 50 months in prison after being found guilty of two counts of transportation for prostitution under the Mann Act. Since his entry into prison, his release date has been adjusted multiple times: initially set for May 2028, it was temporarily reduced thanks to his participation in substance rehabilitation programs and administrative readjustments, before being affected by this incident.
At 56 years old, the former hip-hop executive continues to await final administrative decisions while his lawyers evaluate the disciplinary implications and continue the appeal process of his conviction.
