The musician's death was confirmed by the band through a statement released on their website.

“It is with immense sadness that we confirm the passing of our great friend and bandmate, Perry Bamonte, who died at home over Christmas after a brief illness,” the text begins.
'Teddy,' as he was affectionately known, was described by his bandmates as calm, intuitive, consistent, and very creative.
Perry Archangelo Bamonte, as was his full name, joined the band in 1984 as a tour technician, Robert Smith's personal assistant, and guitar technician. Six years later, after the departure of keyboardist Roger O'Donnell, Perry Bamonte was promoted to keyboardist and guitarist for the band. In 2005 he was fired by Robert Smith, but had a second stint in 2022 for the 'A Lost World' tour, which ended in 2024.
