Tokischa generates controversy for posing semi-nude in a church
The Dominican singer posted a series of photos on her Instagram in a religious temple in Spain wearing only a thong and posing topless
The controversial Dominican rapper Tokischa is once again in the eye of the storm after the publication of a series of controversial photos. This time, the scene of the controversy was a religious temple in San Sebastian, Spain, where the artist posed scantily clad in front of sacred images. The images, shared on her social media this Friday, show the "Linda" singer wearing only a thong and posing topless—covering her breasts with her hands—right in front of a representation of Jesus Christ. The post quickly went viral, generating a wave of divided reactions between those who defend her freedom of expression and those who consider the act a serious lack of respect for the Catholic faith. Accompanying the photos, the singer included a message where she attempted to explain her particular relationship with the divine, stating that her faith is not governed by conventional norms. She also clarified that the images are part of the aesthetic of a new short film she is currently shooting in Europe. This is not the first time Tokischa has been at the center of controversy for this type of content. In 2021, the La Vega Prosecutor's Office in the Dominican Republic imposed a sanction on her, prohibiting her from visiting the municipality for one year. This occurred after she posed in a "sensual" manner at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Altagracia in Jarabacoa, prompting a formal complaint from local authorities.
To date, the ecclesiastical authorities of San Sebastian have not issued an official statement regarding whether they will take legal action for the use of the religious site for these purposes.
