The political uproar over the arrest of Shrikant Pujari is showing no sign of stopping. Amidst all this, Sharad Pawar's NCP leader Dr. Jitendra Awhad created a new controversy. He has described Lord Ram as a non-vegetarian.

At an event in Shirdi, Maharashtra on Wednesday, Awhad said that Lord Ram was not a vegetarian, he was a non-vegetarian. He said that where will a person who lives in the forest for 14 years go to find vegetarian food? He asked the public whether this is right or not?

He said, 'Whatever anyone says, the truth is that we got independence only because of Gandhi and Nehru. The fact that Gandhiji, the leader of such a big freedom movement, was an OBC is not acceptable to them (RSS). He further said that the real reason behind Gandhiji's assassination was casteism.
