Delhi High Court dismisses a petition seeking the removal of Arvind Kejriwal as Chief Minister and imposes a fine on the petitioner for mocking the judicial system.
The Delhi High Court has dismissed a petition seeking the removal of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from office and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the petitioner, Sandeep Kumar. The court admonished the petitioner, emphasizing that frivolous petitions undermine the integrity of the judicial system.
The Acting Chief Justice (ACJ) rebuked the petitioner, stating that the courtroom is not a stage for drama sequels akin to James Bond films. The ACJ highlighted that two similar petitions had previously been rejected and urged the petitioner not to waste the court's time with repetitive filings. Emphasizing the importance of addressing significant legal matters, the ACJ cautioned against trivializing the judiciary and urged the petitioner to pursue legal recourse through appropriate channels.
In response to the petitioner's arguments regarding constitutional governance, the ACJ cautioned against engaging in political discourse within the courtroom and advised the petitioner to seek redressal in the Supreme Court if dissatisfied. The ACJ underscored the importance of upholding the dignity of the legal system and cautioned against undermining its credibility through frivolous litigation.
