With rain-flood-like conditions in the capital Delhi-NCR, the risk of mosquito-borne diseases has also increased. According to the information received from the hospitals of Delhi-Noida and Greater Noida, dengue has already knocked here. Dengue patients have increased in many hospitals in the last 15 days, in view of which the doctors have alerted.

According to health experts, the situation is currently under control, but this time there is a fear of increase in the number of cases due to the rains and floods.

Around 136 cases of dengue have been reported in the national capital this year. Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj also held a meeting with senior officials of the government on Tuesday to prevent the spread of vector-borne diseases. As per the data shared by the authorities, 136 cases of dengue and 43 of malaria have been reported in Delhi this year till July 8.

According to the report released by the MCD this week, in the year 2022, where 153 cases of dengue were seen in the period from January 1 to July 8, this year the figure will be 136. Last year, a total of 4,469 cases of dengue were reported and nine deaths occurred. Out of 136 cases registered so far this year, 40 cases were registered in June and 23 in May. The infection has been confirmed in 14 people in the first eight days of July itself.

This year there is more concern about mosquito-borne diseases as the situation is worse than last year due to heavy rains and floods.

Shrey Srivastava, a doctor of intensive care at a hospital in Greater Noida, says, cases of mosquito-borne diseases have started coming in hospitals, although most people are returning after recovering. Since heavy rains in the past have led to water-logging conditions in many parts which are most favorable for the breeding of mosquitoes. In such a situation, if preventive measures are not taken, then dengue-chikungunya patients can increase.

Dengue is a viral disease, which is spread by the bite of Aedes aegypti mosquito. These mosquitoes bite more during the day, so it is very important to keep avoiding them.

Dengue mosquitoes thrive in water tanks, containers and old tyres, flower pots. If there is stagnant water at a place for a few days, it can be a source for breeding mosquitoes. Dengue is mainly of two types - classical dengue fever which is also known as 'break the bone' fever and second is dengue hemorrhagic fever which can be relatively more dangerous.

Along with dengue, cases of chikungunya and malaria also increase in this season, which can also have serious side effects for health.

In case of dengue, you may have problems like high fever along with abdominal pain, frequent vomiting, bloody vomiting or bloody stools. These symptoms are considered serious, patients should be hospitalized immediately. Since the blood platelet count starts decreasing rapidly in dengue, due to this the risk of taking a severe form of the disease can be high.

It is very important to keep preventing dengue. Wear full sleeve clothes during the day, spray medicines to repel mosquitoes and use mosquito nets while sleeping at night.
