A farmer Pritam Singh has died. District-level representative of Bhartiya Kisan Union Azad Jasveer Singh Medewas told that Pritam Singh, a farmer of Mander village, remained with the movement since morning. Police lathi-charged while leaving Longowal. Many farmers including Pritam Singh were seriously injured in this. Pritam Singh was immediately taken to Sangrur Hospital. From there he was referred to Patiala. But Pritam Singh's life was not spared.

At the same time, many policemen including SHO Deepinder Singh JG of Sunam City Police Station are also injured, SHO has suffered serious injuries. Farmers' organizations are demanding compensation for the loss. 16 farmer organizations have also announced to set up a permanent front in Chandigarh from August 22. Earlier, the police raided on Sunday night itself and started taking the farmers into custody. Angered by this, the farmer organizations came on the road.

The situation between the organizations and the police remained tense since Monday morning in Longowal town of Sunam assembly constituency. Police have also put blockades in Namol and Medewas. Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Azad leaders Jasvir Singh Madewas and Happy Namol, who escaped from the police, said that the state's Bhagwant Mann government is killing democracy by arresting leaders to prevent farmers from protesting in Chandigarh. He said that 16 farmer organizations are fighting together and demanding compensation to the flood victims, but the Aam Aadmi Party government has also adopted the same path as the previous governments.

Farmers from Moga have also started leaving for Chandigarh. The police is trying to stop them. At the same time, the farmers are also adamant on their stubbornness. Many farmer leaders have also been detained by the police. The farmers gathered near Gurudwara Shri Tambumal on Ferozepur Road and marched to Chandigarh. The police had put up a barricade here. The farmers broke the barricade and started moving forward. At the same time, near village Duneke, the police had set up a big naka. A truck was blocked on the road so that the farmer could not move forward. The farmers diverted their convoy as soon as they got disobedience. Reached village Mehna via villages and here Ludhiana road was blocked by farmers. A heavy police force is deployed on the spot.

Leaders of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee demonstrated in Kapurthala on Monday. Here the police detained 44 farmers. After this, farmer organizations started ruckus and started gheraoing the police stations. Zone Nadala President Nishan Singh and District General Secretary Nirmal Singh said that the leaders of their organization were arrested by the Punjab Police on Sunday. According to the order received from the organization for their release, the farmer organizations of Punjab were conducting a peaceful protest at the nine toll plazas. During this, farmers were protesting peacefully at Dhilwan toll plaza as well. But the police took the farmers into custody.

The police have detained 16 farmers in Bhulath police station, 18 in Begowal and 18 in Dhilwan police station. Nishan Singh said that if the farmers are not released, the organization will be forced to struggle on a large scale. Bhulath DSP Bharat Bhushan Saini told that the said farmers were protesting at the Dhilwan toll plaza. The situation should not worsen there, so this step has been taken as a precautionary measure.
