Gujarat government made a big achievement in its name, built more than 2400 Amrit Sarovar on the call of PM Modi
The Gujarat government has completed the construction of more than 2400 Amrit Saravars in 33 districts of the state.

PM Modi has expressed his concern about water conservation on many forums. For this, he appealed to the states in the country to make Amrit Sarovar to save water. In the 'Mann Ki Baat' program of April 2022, he called upon the countrymen to build 75 Amrit Sarovar in each district of the country. He urged them to take a pledge to save water on the occasion of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'.
Big achievement of Gujarat government
In Gujarat, doing remarkable work in this direction under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the state government has completed more than 100 percent work. So far, against the target of 2475, 2652 Amrit Sarovars have been identified in the state and construction of 2612 Amrit Sarovars has been completed.
In this golden age of Amrit Kaal of India, the aim of the Prime Minister's appeal is to have at least 75 Amrit Sarovars in all the districts. Each of these Amrit Sarovar will have a pond area of 1 acre (0.4 hectare), with a water holding capacity of about 10,000 cubic metres. It is also important to ensure public participation, as it aims to promote the spirit of working together in society. For this, public programs will also be organized in Amrit Sarovars in the coming months.
Recently, on the occasion of Yoga Day 2023, more than 65 thousand people participated in Yoga Day celebrations at 1597 lakes. Similarly, health camps were organized at several Amrit Sarovars on 1st July. The district administration has interacted with the representatives of local organizations and village leaders to make them aware of the benefits of Amrit Sarovar.
Priority given to villages of freedom fighters and martyrs
Preference has been given to the location of Sarovars located in the villages of freedom fighters and martyrs. Trees like Neem, Peepal and Banyan have been planted as a memorial at 665 Amrit Sarovar work sites by freedom fighters or their family members on 15th August.
Soil of Amrit Sarovar used in highway and farming
Railways, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) Surendranagar-Rajkot Doubling Project and Ahmedabad-Mehsana Track Development, Ahmedabad-Dholera Express Highway, National Highway-27, Delhi-Vadodara Express Highway (NH- 148 N), NH-8 E have used soil from Amrit Sarovar. Local farmers also use the soil of Amrit Sarovar to make their land fertile.
