How to Clean Your Wooden Cutting Board: 1-Minute Trick That Kills Bacteria
We share with you a quick trick to clean the wooden cutting board, using two ingredients: coarse salt and olive oil
The wooden cutting board is one of the kitchen utensils that needs the most daily maintenance, especially due to cross contamination when cutting different foods. There is a homemade trick that you can apply in a minute and that only requires two ingredients.
It is the combination of coarse salt and olive oil. Although this method helps eliminate food debris and surface stains, it does not replace the usual and necessary disinfection, especially after contact with meat and poultry.

How coarse salt and olive oil work to clean a cutting board
Start by sprinkling two tablespoons of coarse salt over the surface of the board and then a tablespoon of olive oil over the salt. Later, with a clean cloth or sponge, rub the mixture in circular movements for one minute.
You can also use a lemon peel instead of a sponge, taking advantage of the properties of the fruit.
By making circular movements, the salt will act as an abrasive that will loosen the residue stuck to the board, and the oil will temporarily improve the appearance of the wood and reduce the feeling of dryness.
After approximately one minute, remove the mixture with plenty of water and dry well with the help of absorbent paper. It is important that the board is completely dry before storing it.
The expert recommendation is to apply the trick only after doing a deep cleaning with hot water and the dishwasher. Likewise, it is important to change the cutting board once it starts to develop cracks or has been used for a long time.
