MUMBAI: The Income Tax Department has recovered benami assets worth about Rs 100 crore, including diamonds and jewels, from the premises of a steel, textile trader and real estate developer in Maharashtra's Jalna. According to media reports, the Income Tax Department raided various locations of steel, textile traders and real estate developers of Jalna during the last one to eight August. During this raid, the Income Tax officials have found benami assets worth about Rs 100 crore along with diamonds and jewels and valuables.

According to the information given by the news agency ANI, the Income Tax Department officials raided the premises of a steel, textile trader and real estate developer from Maharashtra during last one to eight August. According to the information, during this raid, the officials of the Income Tax Department have seized benami properties worth about Rs 100 crore. This includes cash worth Rs 56 crore, 32 kg of gold, diamond-pearl jewelery and property papers worth crores of rupees.

According to the report, the Income Tax Department officials conducted continuous raids for eight days at the locations of steel, textile traders and real estate developers in Jalna, Maharashtra, in which more than two hundred officers and employees were involved. Department officials told the media that it took about 13 hours for the employees of the department to count the cash seized from the premises of this businessman.

According to media reports, about 260 officers and employees from across the state were involved in this raid. About 120 government vehicles were used in this. It is also being told that five different teams of officers were formed for the raids conducted on such a large scale by the Income Tax Department in Jalna, Maharashtra. However, the name of the businessman has not yet been disclosed by the Income Tax Department, from whose properties benami assets worth crores of rupees have been recovered.
