Eleven people died on Sunday after inhaling poisonous gas in a residential area of Ludhiana. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the incident and announced Rs 2 lakh each from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the next of kin of the deceased, while also announcing Rs 50,000 each to the affected people. On Monday, PMO India gave information by tweeting.
Significantly, this incident happened on Sunday. Of the 11 people who lost their lives, five were from the same family while 12 have been admitted to the hospital. Earlier, the Punjab government had announced Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured.
People shying away from drinking tap water
The people of Gyaspura area told that it is common to find industrial wastes in the sewerage line of this area. Its effect is also visible in drinking water. This is the reason that after the poisonous gas accident, people are shying away from drinking tap water and are bringing drinking water from other areas.
The people of the area say that due to the foul smell of the deadly industrial waste, people walking around have become corpses, so it is possible that some parts of this deadly chemical have been found in the water as well. In such a situation, most of the people of the area are afraid of even drinking water.
