Manipur: Crackdown on main criminals involved in murder case of two youths; Four arrested from Churachandpur
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that today in a major success we have arrested the main criminals responsible for the kidnapping and murder of two youths in the state.

There is a lot of anger among the local people over the kidnapping and murder of two children in Manipur. The protest started turning violent when pictures of the dead bodies of the two children went viral on social media. The state government had handed over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The main culprits in the case were arrested on Sunday.
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that today in a major success we have arrested the main criminals responsible for the kidnapping and murder of two youths in the state. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had sent the CBI Special Director to Manipur along with some senior officers and today with the cooperation of the Indian Army, Paramilitary Forces, Assam Rifles and State Police, we have arrested four accused in this case from Churachandpur. This is a huge achievement. I want to thank NIA, CBI and all the central forces.
Writing in X, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said, I am happy to inform that some of the main criminals responsible for the kidnapping and murder of Fizam Hemanjit and Hizam Linthoingambi have been arrested from Churachandpur. Earlier officials had said that the CBI, in a joint operation with the Army and Manipur Police, has detained four people in connection with the murder of two youths.
He also said, anyone can run away after committing a crime, but cannot escape the long hand of the law. Also reassuring the people, he wrote, we are committed to ensure maximum punishment, including death penalty, for the heinous crime committed by them.
What was the matter?
Two students had gone missing from Manipur in the month of July. But pictures of dead bodies of children are going viral on social media. Seeing the anger of the people over the matter, the Manipur government had asked the people to exercise restraint. The officials were asked to investigate the kidnapping and murder of both of them. The two students were identified as Phizam Hemjit (20) and Hizam Linthoingambi (17).
