Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called an all-party meeting on June 24 to discuss the situation in violence-hit Manipur. The spokesperson of the Ministry of Home Affairs gave this information by tweeting on Wednesday. This meeting will be held in Delhi on Saturday at 3 pm. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Home Minister Shah on Wednesday evening, following which an all-party meeting was announced.

Sarma is also the convenor of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) of the NDA. He had visited Imphal a fortnight ago and met Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh and several political leaders. More than a hundred people have lost their lives so far in the violence that has been going on for more than one and a half months.

Let us tell you that the situation in Manipur is not improving. Incidents of violence are being seen continuously in the border state. Opposition parties have expressed concern over the situation in Manipur. On Wednesday itself, former Congress President Sonia Gandhi expressed grief over the violence in Manipur in a video message and appealed for peace. He said that the unprecedented violence that ravaged the lives of the people of the State has left a deep wound on the conscience of the country. People were forced to flee their homes.
