Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday accused the central government of misusing central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and Income Tax Department against political opponents and the issue should be discussed urgently under Rule 267. demanded to be done. Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu rejected Kharge's notice in this regard. He also rejected the notices given by Shiv Sena's Priyanka Chaturvedi, Aam Aadmi Party's Sanjay Singh and Raghav Chadha on various issues under Rule 267. He said that these are such issues for which the business of the House cannot be adjourned. However, he gave Kharge and Chaturvedi a chance to make their point.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said the notice given by him under Rule 267 is very important and should be allowed to be discussed in the House. He said that autonomous institutions like ED, CBI and Income Tax Department are being misused and the present ruling government is doing it with grudge against political opponents. These agencies are being used to topple leaders of political parties, social activists, media and democratically elected governments through campaigns.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge demanded a discussion on the issue but the Chairman rejected it. Chaturvedi said Rajya Sabha is the council of states and the ED has arrested a sitting member of the House and his party leader. He said that according to the rules, the ED should have given prior information to the Chairman, but by not doing so, they have weakened the constitutional position of the Chairman. After this, Zero Hour went on normally in the Rajya Sabha and the members raised their issues under it. Earlier, on the commencement of the sitting of the Upper House, Chairman Naidu laid the necessary documents on the Table of the House. He then informed the House that he had accepted the notices given for Zero Hour and for Special Mention.
