Congress MP and former party president Rahul Gandhi has called off his election campaign in Kerala today due to sudden illness, as confirmed by the Congress party on Sunday.
Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) acting president and United Democratic Front (UDF) convenor MM Hassan announced the cancellation of all public meetings scheduled for Monday, attributing it to Rahul Gandhi's unforeseen health issue.
Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi was absent from the 'India' alliance rally in Ranchi. Senior party leader Jairam Ramesh explained, “He fell ill unexpectedly and is presently unable to travel from New Delhi.”
Congress General Secretary Ramesh further clarified, “Rahul Gandhi had plans to campaign today in Satna and Ranchi, where the 'India' rally was scheduled. However, due to sudden illness, he is currently unable to depart from New Delhi.”
Rahul Gandhi is contesting from the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency. Kerala is set to vote for 20 Lok Sabha seats on April 26.
