Red and yellow alert in the whole country except some states, devastation due to cloudburst on the mountains

The havoc of rain and floods in different parts of the country continued on Wednesday. Several houses, including a school, have been washed away in Himachal Pradesh due to cloudburst in the mountains. From the coastal areas of the country to Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh, flood situation persists.
Two people have died in a rain-related incident in Haryana. So far 41 people have lost their lives in this season in Punjab. The Yamuna in Delhi has come under the danger mark, but the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in almost the entire country for the next two days. Due to this the possibility of worsening the situation cannot be ruled out.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh and West Uttar Pradesh for the next three days and has issued an Orange to Yellow alert. Similarly, Red Alert has been issued for extremely heavy rainfall on July 27 and Orange Alert for heavy rainfall on July 28 in Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa, Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
It is raining heavily in Mumbai and it is expected to continue for the next two days. All schools in Raigarh have been closed till Thursday. It is raining heavily in South Odisha as well. One person has died after being swept away in floods in Malkangiri district. The flood situation in Telangana also remains bad.
National Highway closed in Himachal
In Kandahar village of Sarpara panchayat of Rampur sub-division of Shimla district, five houses including a primary school, a youth club building were washed away in the flood that occurred after two cloudbursts at the same place late on Tuesday night. Apple orchards have been damaged. Many cattle have also been washed away. At the same time, the Shimla-Kinnaur National Highway has been closed due to landslides in Broni and Jewry. A flood alert has been issued for the next 24 hours in Chamba, Kangra, Sirmaur, Shimla, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kullu, Mandi and Kinnaur districts. People have been instructed not to go near the banks of rivers and drains.
Heavy loss in Haryana-Punjab
Heavy damage has been caused in flood-hit Karnal, Hisar and Rohtak in Haryana and Punjab. Hundreds of acres of crops along with many markets, colonies are submerged in water. Two people were crushed to death after a thatch collapsed along the wall of a mosque in Gadhi Besaksha village of Sanoli in Panipat district. In Punjab too, 1,500 acres of crops have been submerged in Fazilka by the waters of Sutlej. Flood situation has arisen in many villages of Ferozepur. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rain in 9 districts of the state.
Research: Earth's weather cycle will change completely after half a century
By 2057, the world may reach a situation where the weather cycle will completely change. It is possible that then all of Europe and most of the northern parts of the Earth will become permanently cold and the heat will increase further in the Mediterranean and tropical regions. Research from the University of Copenhagen, published in the journal Nature Communications, claims that if greenhouse gas emissions remain at current levels, the North Atlantic ocean currents will stop after half a century. The cessation of these currents would have catastrophic effects on the Earth's weather cycle. Especially the whole world will be troubled by rain and heat. These currents, called the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), were studied based on data from the past 150 years.
Lead researcher Peter Dietlevson says the results of the study show that if emissions of greenhouse gases are not reduced, it will not be possible to prevent such a situation from happening.
