Rosalia thrills Barcelona audience by singing 'La Perla' at a concert for Palestine
The Catalan singer performed her latest hit 'La Perla' at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona
Rosalia surprised her fans by participating –without prior notice– in the benefit concert organized by the 'ActxPalestine' platform at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona. The Catalan artist took to the stage and performed his latest hit, “La perla,” declaring with emotion, “Today, especially, it's an honor to be on this stage.” This gesture was not only a remarkable musical performance but also a highly resonant public statement. Rosalia's participation took on special significance after the criticism she received the previous summer on social media for her public silence regarding the situation in Palestine, even leading to designer Miguel Adrover refusing to collaborate with her for that reason. Her presence at this high-profile event was interpreted as a clear and supportive response. The event sold out before the full lineup was even announced. The event brought together more than twenty artists from diverse generations and genres, including Amaia, rapper Morad, Bad Gyal, Ana Tijoux, Lluis Llach, and Palestinian artists such as Zeyne and Lina Makoul.
All proceeds will go to the Palestinian Performing Arts Network, an organization that channels resources for cultural projects in the Palestinian territories.
Beyond the music, the concert served as the closing event for an international awareness campaign. Previously, a moving tribute was paid at the venue and on the beach in Barcelona to Hind Rajab, a Palestinian girl who died in Gaza two years ago.
Her mother, Wesam Hamada, recited a poem during the ceremony. The day also included powerful speeches, such as that of British surgeon Graeme Groom, who described the medical shortages and the humanitarian situation in Gaza, and that of eight-year-old Alex, who closed the event by asking that the children of Gaza not be forgotten.
Thus, Rosalia's surprise performance was part of an evening where music, testimony, and a powerful humanitarian appeal converged.
adding her artistic voice to a cultural movement that seeks to give visibility to and support the Palestinian people.
