Weather Conditions in Chhattisgarh

After a brief respite from the cold, residents of Chhattisgarh are likely to face chilly conditions once again. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a drop in minimum temperatures starting Saturday. On Thursday, Raipur recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 29.5°C, which is 1.1°C above normal. The minimum temperature in Raipur stood at 16.6°C, 2.6°C above normal.

In contrast, Ambikapur and Korea districts recorded the state’s lowest minimum temperature at 9.7°C. No rainfall was recorded anywhere in the state during this period. While residents can take solace in the fact that there are no immediate cold wave warnings, fluctuations in temperature remain a concern.

Impact of Western Disturbances

The IMD attributes the fluctuating weather patterns to the influence of western disturbances. A western disturbance currently extends over northern Pakistan at an altitude of 3.1 to 4.5 kilometers. Additionally, an upper air cyclonic circulation is positioned over Haryana, contributing to the ongoing variability in temperatures.

The IMD forecasts that the weather will remain dry on January 17. However, the minimum temperature is expected to drop by 2–3°C by January 18, marking the beginning of colder days. The impact of these systems will continue to influence the state’s weather until mid-February.

Temperature Trends Across the State

On Thursday, Raipur emerged as the warmest location in Chhattisgarh with a maximum temperature of 29.5°C, while Ambikapur and Korea recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 9.7°C. The stark contrast in temperatures highlights the significant variability within the state.

Frequent changes in weather systems are causing these fluctuations. According to weather officials, this trend is likely to persist until February 15, with alternating periods of warmer days and colder nights.
