Jennifer Lopez and the subtle criticism of Marc Anthony for his absence in raising her children
The artist reflected on the complexities of motherhood after her divorce from the singer and managing to raise her twins without anyone's help.
Jennifer Lopez once again opened her heart about the challenges of her personal life, launching what many have interpreted as a subtle but forceful criticism of her ex-husband, Marc Anthony.
During her recent participation in the SmartLess podcast, the actress and singer reflected on the process of raising her twins, Max and Emme, revealing that she faced motherhood with almost zero support.
“Now I can reflect on my life, appreciate it for what it is and what I have created for myself, and be truly happy,” the Hollywood star said proudly.
Looking back, she detailed the internal dialogue she maintains today: "I thought, 'You did it on your own. You had very little help.'"
These statements coincide with a moment of great family success, since both young people, aged 18, obtained scholarships to enter the universities of their choice. However, the words of the “Bronx Diva” take on a more acute meaning after reporting the notable absence of Marc Anthony at his children's recent graduation ceremonies.
The salsero was not seen either at Emme's school graduation in Los Angeles – who was formally introduced as Oskar Muñiz – nor at Max's days later.
Lopez recalled that her divorce in 2014, after a decade of marriage, gave way to a period of extreme desperation: "I was a single mother with two 3-year-old twins. I was about to give up." However, resilience and the advice to move forward guided her to independently build the present for her children.
