Shiv Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray will announce support for National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Draupadi Murmu in the presidential election. Shiv Sena MP Gajanan Kirtikar said these things on Monday. He said that we supported Pratibha Patil. She was the candidate of United Progressive Alliance (UPA). Shiv Sena supported her because she was from Maharashtra. She was a Marathi woman.

Gajanan Kirtikar said that Shiv Sena had also supported Pranab Mukherjee. He was the candidate of UPA. He said that in the presidential election, we need to think above politics. Uddhav ji will announce his support to Draupadi Murmu. Draupadi Murmu comes from tribal society. Kirtikar said these things after the meeting of Shiv Sena MPs. In this meeting, 16 out of 18 Shiv Sena MPs were present.

Two MPs (Bhavna Gawli and Shrikant Shinde) did not attend the meeting. All other MPs attended the meeting. Let us tell you that Shiv Sena MPs had written a letter to party supremo Uddhav Thackeray urging him to declare support to NDA's candidate Draupadi Murmu in the presidential election. The MPs had reminded that Balasaheb Thackeray supported Pratibha Patil, despite being in the NDA, because she was a Marathi woman.

In a letter written to Uddhav Thackeray, the MPs had said that we should stand in support of the NDA on the issue of making a tribal woman the President. The party should announce its support to Draupadi Murmu.
