The counting of votes for the three-tier panchayat elections held in West Bengal is underway. Polling was held here on July 8 amid tight security. In that, about 5.67 crore voters voted for 73,887 seats. Counting of votes is going on in these seats. During this, reports of violence are also coming from many places. At the same time, State Governor CV Anand Bose has given a stern warning to those who spread violence. He has clearly said that those who commit violence will not be spared. The governor said that those who indulge in violence will be punished in such a way that they will curse the day they were born.

There has been statewide violence during voting for panchayat elections in the state. Regarding this, the Governor had a meeting with Home Minister Shah in Delhi a day ago. At the same time, he said that we will definitely take strict action against those who are responsible for this.

The Governor said that action would also be taken against those who sit in the political control room and remotely control the hooligans in the field. Violence is affecting the future of the new generation. Those who commit violence will be punished in such a way that they will curse the day they were born. All officers will take strict action against goons and law breakers.

The Governor said that we will make Bengal a safe place for the new generation to live. He said that the continuous fight against the increasing violence in Bengal will continue. All the officers will deal strictly with goons and law breakers.

Earlier, West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose reached New Delhi on Sunday. Here on Monday, he also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in North Block. During this, there was a discussion between the two on the recent violence in Bengal. After the meeting, he said that there is darkness just before the light. The only message I got today is that if winter comes, can spring be far behind? It will be better in the days to come.

Significantly, Panchayat elections were held in West Bengal on Saturday. During this, there was a lot of violence in the entire state. There was a lot of vandalism, stone pelting and arson. About 20 people were killed in six districts in the wake of political fighting. More than 300 people were injured. Somewhere the postal box was looted and somewhere a lot of bombs went off. After vandalizing the polling booth in Cooch Behar, the miscreants had set the ballot papers on fire.

Around 20 political workers were killed during the voting. Of these, 13 deaths occurred in Murshidabad, Coochbehar and Malda. Maximum five deaths occurred in Murshidabad. The number of people killed in Cooch Behar, North Dinajpur and Malda were three, four and one respectively. There was one death each in three districts of South Bengal – Nadia, East Burdwan and South 24 Parganas. More than 200 people were also injured here. Eight journalists were also injured in the Jalpaiguri violence.

If we look at the statistics of the last one month, in the meantime, more than 38 political murders have taken place. Since the announcement of elections on June 8, till July 7, 19 people have lost their lives. In Cooch Behar, some people were seen running away with ballot boxes. Apart from this, many polling booths were set on fire by the miscreants here.

Amidst the news of Bengal violence, BSF DIG SS Guleria has made a big allegation on the State Election Commission. The DIG said that the State Election Commission gave the number of sensitive booths only on June 7. His location or any other information was not given. 59 thousand troops of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and Armed Police of 25 states were also present here, but it could not be used properly.

The state government had told that there were only 4834 sensitive polling booths on which CAPFs were deployed, but in reality there were more sensitive polling booths than this. The deployment of BSF was done only on the demand of the local administration. Despite this, the administration and the State Election Commission did not give correct information. West Bengal Election Commissioner Rajeev Sinha also hit back. He said that it was the responsibility of the district administration to control the crowd during elections. He alleged that the central force could not deploy companies in Bengal in time.

The Home Ministry has also become alert regarding the incidents of violence. Home Minister Amit Shah sought a report from the state government on Saturday. He also spoke to BJP State President Sukanta Majumdar and inquired about the party workers. West Bengal's state CV Anand Bose had also expressed concern.
