Train Accident: FIR in Balasore rail accident case, case also registered under Railway Act

Police has registered an FIR in connection with the train accident in Balasore, Odisha. FIR has been registered under various sections. The police have also registered a case under the Railway Act. According to information, an FIR was registered by the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Cuttack under sections 153, 154 and 175 of the Railway Act against unknown persons in the accident. The FIR was registered following a complaint by SI Papu Kumar Naik of Balasore GRPS.
The condition of both loco pilots is stable
Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of South Eastern Railway, Aditya Chowdhary said, the condition of both the loco pilots is stable. Mohanty is taken out of the ICU. Behra's head will be operated upon.
The relatives of both the loco pilots have appealed to respect their privacy in view of their physical and mental condition. Earlier, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had given a clean chit to both.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told that the affected area was restored last night, after which 50-60 trains have passed through there. The situation is fast returning to normal. We are trying to contact the family members of the passengers.
About 288 people were killed

At least 288 people have died in this accident and more than 1100 people have been injured. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has recommended a CBI inquiry into the accident.
Track started after 51 hours
The first train left from the accident-affected section at around 10.40 pm on Sunday, 51 hours after the gruesome accident. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav flagged off a goods train. During this, many media persons and railway officials were also present there. A goods train carrying coal left Visakhapatnam port for Rourkela steel plant on the same track where Friday's train derailment took place. After this two more vehicles were taken out. Vaishnav present on the spot also became emotional and tears welled up in his eyes.
'Responsible criminals have been identified'
The Railway Minister had said that the root cause of the accident and the culprits responsible for it have been identified. He had said that this happened because of the changes made in the electronic interlocking and point machines. It is called a fail safe system, so it means that even if it fails, all the signals will turn red and all the trains will stop running. The minister said that there was a problem with the signaling system. It may happen that someone did some digging without seeing the cables.
