Nancy Pelosi's husband accused of crashing into a parked vehicle and fleeing
Nancy Pelosi's husband must appear before the Superior Court to explain why, after crashing his vehicle into another, he chose to flee
Weeks after crashing his vehicle into another that was parked and unoccupied, Paul Pelosi, husband of powerful Democrat Nancy Pelosi, was accused by California authorities of a misdemeanor and fleeing.
According to the Napa County District Attorney's Office, the 86-year-old man allegedly violated a California state law that requires drivers involved in crashes, where property damage is caused, to stop and provide their driver's license as well as vehicle registration information.
Added to this is having made an illegal turn while driving, which poses a risk to other vehicle drivers and possible pedestrians who could be in your path.
Because of this, Paul Pelosi was summoned to appear before the Napa County Superior Court on August 14.
Through the review of some recordings captured by security cameras mounted near the site of the vehicle collision, it was determined that the incident took place while he was traveling in a brown car on a street in the city of Yountville, California, on July 3.
For some reason not yet determined, the husband of the former president of the House of Representatives became careless and managed to collide sideways with another vehicle that was duly parked.
Upon realizing the damage he had caused, the driver stopped for a few moments and then fled without injuring anyone.
Despite not having any evidence, the prosecutor in charge of investigating the event affirms that Paul Pelosi was not driving under the influence of alcohol present in his system.
"Mr. Paul Pelosi personally apologized to the owner of the vehicle and assured him that he would assume responsibility for the damages. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Pelosi, will not make any further comments on this private matter," said a spokesman for the Democrat who decided not to run for a hypothetical re-election.
On October 28, 2022, Paul Pelosi was attacked by a stranger at his San Francisco residence who hit him in the head with a hammer.
As a result, in his testimony of the events he claimed to present intense pain and loss of balance as a permanent consequence, which would imply a risk if driving any type of vehicle.
To this it must be added that, in 2022, Pelosi was involved in another crash, but on that occasion it was confirmed that she was driving under the influence of alcohol, a situation that resulted in a sentence of five days in jail and three years of probation.
