Trump to Receive Netanyahu in the White House amid Tensions Over War with Iran and Gaza
Benjamin Netanyahu to Visit White House for Talks with Donald Trump as Washington Intensifies Efforts to Negotiate Gaza Ceasefire
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will visit Washington next week, a senior Trump administration official said.
The visit, which according to the specialized website Jewish Insider will take place on Monday, comes amid pressure from Washington for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The US president launched a message yesterday on his social network Truth calling for an immediate agreement to end the conflict and “release the hostages.”
This message follows another last Friday in which he assured that a solution to the conflict in Palestine could be reached as soon as this week.
“We are working in Gaza and trying to solve it. We are supplying a lot of money and a lot of food to that area because we have to,” stressed the president at an event in Washington.
In addition to publicly insisting on his desire to reach a cessation of hostilities in the region, Trump has also supported Netanyahu, a key ally, despite the fact that the Israeli is going through a judicial process in which he is indicted for bribery, fraud and breach of trust in three different criminal cases.
Israel has maintained its offensive in Gaza, in an escalation of the conflict that has already lasted more than a year and a half and leaves dozens dead every day.
The Israeli Army has intensified its attacks in the north of the Strip after ordering the forced evacuation of residents in several neighborhoods of the Gaza capital and the northern city of Jabalia last Sunday.
Since October 7, 2023, at least 56,259 Palestinians have been killed and more than 132,000 have been injured by Israeli fire, according to figures from the Hamas-ruled Health Ministry.
Netanyahu's last visit to Washington was in April , where the two discussed the hostage crisis, the end of the war in Gaza, and the Trump administration's recent tariffs on Israel. He was the first foreign leader to meet with Trump to discuss the tariffs.
