Bronny James will lead the Lakers in the 2025 Summer League and will face Cooper Flagg
Julian Reese, brother of WNBA star Angel Reese, also joins
Bronny James will return to Las Vegas this summer as part of the Lakers roster for the 2025 NBA Summer League. This was confirmed by specialized journalist Marc Stein, who assured that the son of LeBron James is "confirmed" to be part of the team's summer team Los Angeles.
The anticipation surrounding his participation grows even more with the Los Angeles team's debut: they will face Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks on July 10, in a duel that promises to generate great media and sporting attention.
James, 20, already had his first experience in the Summer League in 2024, after being selected by the Lakers with the 55th pick in the Draft. On that occasion, he played four games in Las Vegas with modest averages: 8.8 points and 3.5 rebounds, with just 35% effectiveness in field goals and a low 15.8% from the three-point line.
During his rookie season in the NBA, Bronny participated in 27 regular season games, although without establishing himself in the main team's rotation. Most of his development came in the G League, where he played for the South Bay Lakers, posting some encouraging stats: 21.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.9 steals per game, while posting solid shooting percentages (44.3/38.0/81.5) in 11 games.
Julian Reese, a Lakers inside bet for the summer
In addition to James, the Lakers' Summer League roster will feature several other notable prospects. Among them is Julian Reese, the brother of WNBA player Angel Reese, who signed a contract as an undrafted free agent.
A former Maryland player, Reese made a significant mark on the college program by surpassing 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in his career. He finished his senior season averaging 13.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.5 blocks on 55.5% shooting from the field.
While his lack of outside shooting he didn't attempt any 3-pointers in his final three years of college raised eyebrows among some teams, his performance at the Portsmouth Invitational in April was outstanding: 15.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, with 9 of 10 from the free throw line.
