Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal has issued a notice to the Delhi Police for failing to register an FIR in the sexual harassment case against women wrestlers. Wrestlers have complained to the Commission that they have given written complaint to Delhi Police 2 days back but till now their FIR has not been registered. According to the information, the Delhi Women's Commission has received a complaint of sexual harassment of female wrestlers by Brij Bhushan Singh, President of Wrestling Federation of India. The complainant has informed the commission that several women wrestlers, including a minor, have alleged that the accused person has been involved in the offense of sexual harassment against them during his tenure in the Wrestling Federation of India.

The complainant has also informed the commission that a complaint was given by him in this regard at the Connaught Place police station on 21 April 2023 but no action has been taken on the complaint by the SHO of Connaught Place. He has also said that when he called the SHO of Connaught Place on April 22 to inquire about the status of the complaint, he told that no FIR has been registered and action will be taken on the complaint after Monday. He has further said that when he asked him for an assurance to register the FIR by Monday, he replied that he cannot guarantee it. Not only this, instead of registering an FIR in this matter, some of the complainants and their family members have started receiving calls asking about the identity of the complainants from an IPS officer posted in Sports Department, MYAS.

Delhi Women's Commission Chairperson Swati Maliwal has issued a notice to the Delhi Police seeking an action taken report in the matter. The Commission has sought a copy of the FIR and asked the Delhi Police to explain the reason for the delay in registering the FIR. The commission has also sought details of the arrests made in the case.

Further, the commission has sought details of the security provided to the complainants as well as details of the persons who allegedly shared information regarding the matter with the officials of the sports department. The commission has also sought details of steps taken against police officials for failing to register FIRs and sharing details of complainants. The Commission has asked the Delhi Police to provide the action taken report by April 25.

Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal said, 'It is very unfortunate that women wrestlers are not able to register their FIRs of sexual harassment. He has complained to the Delhi Police, no FIR has been registered so far. I have issued a notice to the Delhi Police and sought a report. Immediately an FIR should be registered and the accused should be arrested. Action should be taken against the police officers who fail to register the FIR even after 2 days have passed.
