New Delhi: Global payments and technology company MasterCard will be the title sponsor of the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) for all international matches and domestic tournaments. Mastercard will replace mobile payment app company Paytm. Paytm had a detailed discussion with the BCCI office-bearers on the transfer of sponsorship rights, after which the change in sponsor was considered final.

According to a BCCI press release, "All international matches (both women's and men's) held at MasterCard home ground, domestic cricket matches such as the Irani Trophy, Duleep Trophy and Ranji Trophy organized by the BCCI, as well as all junior matches held in India Cricket (under 19 and under 23) will be the title sponsor of the matches.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said, "Besides the international home series, BCCI's domestic tournaments are important as they are a step towards making India a strong international team." Secretary Jay Shah said, “We are in an exciting phase in Indian cricket as we have to host Australia and South Africa for limited overs series before the T20 World Cup.

This will be followed by series against Sri Lanka, New Zealand and the coveted Border-Gavaskar Trophy early next year, he said. "The calendar is full with the return of the Duleep Trophy in domestic cricket and a full-fledged Ranji Trophy season. The 2022-23 season will see a lot of competition across age groups and I am sure it will be a prosperous partnership.

Former India captain MS Dhoni has been the ambassador of Mastercard for more than four years. He said, "Cricket has been my life and has given me everything that I have. I am thrilled that Mastercard is sponsoring all domestic cricket matches of BCCI and especially junior and women's cricket. Today's Ranji and The junior players will play for the country tomorrow and maintain the pride of 1.3 billion Indians.
