In the 2025 Gold Cup, the Mexican coaches have made a name for themselves. In a context in which the Liga MX has fewer and fewer Mexican coaches, Luis Fernando Tena, Javier Aguirre and Miguel Herrera are demonstrating that there is a good level in Mexico. All three Mexican coaches are in the quarterfinals of the competition.

For obvious reasons, Javier Herrera was the coach under the most pressure of all. With the Mexican national team, El Vasco managed to top Group A. Mexico beat the Dominican Republic 3-2 in the first matchday, defeated Suriname 0-2, and then drew 0-0 with Costa Rica in the group stage. El Tri will face Saudi Arabia in the next round.

Miguel Herrera also achieved his goal. El Piojo was drawn in the same group as Mexico and managed to emerge undefeated from the first phase. Los Ticos beat Suriname 4-3 in their first matchday, then defeated the Dominican Republic 2-1 and tied El Tri 0-0 in the final matchday. Costa Rica finished second in their group only on goal difference. The Costa Rican team will face the United States in the quarterfinals.

The last challenge was Luis Fernando Tena's Guatemalan team. The Guatemalan team defeated Jamaica 1-0 in the first match of the Gold Cup. Los Chapines then lost 1-0 to Panama, but secured their place in the next round with a 2-3 victory over Guadeloupe. Guatemala finished second in Group C with 6 points and will face Canada in the next phase.

Overall, the Mexican coaches have a record of six wins, two draws, and one loss. There are three Mexican coaches who will be in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Gold Cup. Mexico is the only country with more than one representative on the coaches' bench.
