FC Barcelona received this Friday the first occupancy license corresponding to phase 1A of the remodeling of the Spotify Camp Nou, which allows it to reopen the stadium with a provisional capacity of 27,000 spectators, according to sources from Barcelona City Council.

However, this progress in the works, Once the council's amendments regarding security have been resolved, it does not imply that the Barca team will immediately return to the venue located in the Les Corts neighborhood.

In fact, the entity already confirmed on October 7 that it is working with the objective of returning to the Spotify Camp Nou when it obtains the corresponding license for phase 1B, which will increase the capacity to 45,000 spectators.

Barcelona will still play matches at the Lluis Companys

Barcelona indicated that it is based on the fact that the delay in obtaining the 1A license has placed its approval very close in time to that of 1B.

For its part, the capacity of the Lluis Companys allows it to generate greater income and thus compensate for those obtained in the matches previously played at the Johan Cruyff Stadium, and gives more days to carry out operational tests.

The Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium was the venue for the Barca first team's home matches in the last two seasons (2023-24 and 2024-25), and this season has hosted matches against Real Sociedad and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Catalan club has also confirmed that the Olympic venue will host its next two home matches, on Saturday, October 18 against Girona in LaLiga and on Tuesday, October 21 against Greek side Olympiacos in the Champions League.

Barcelona's next home matches will be on Sunday, November 2 against Elche, on the weekend of November 22 and 23 against Athletic Club, and on the weekend of November 29 and 30 against Alaves; all of them in LaLiga and with no venue yet confirmed.
